StartRight! Business Plan Competition Announced.
The 5th Annual Business Plan Competition is underway. The Competition provides cash prizes, mentoring, publicity, and more to foster women entrepreneurship in the area.
Top prize of $10,000 to the first place winner is sponsored by Eagle Bank MD.
Second Prize of $5,000 is sponsored by Rockville Economic Development, Inc.
Third Prize of $2,500 is sponsored by Foster, Soltoff & Love.
Intelligent Office of Rockville will provide free customized virtual office solutions for each of the winners.
Montgomery County Department of Economic Development will provide incubator support to the winner.
Prizes will be awarded to winning business plans submitted by a majority woman owned company, in business for two years or less, and qualified to do business in Maryland, the District of Columbia, or Virginia. Deadline was January 29, 2008 at the Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI) offices at 95 Monroe Street, Rockville, Maryland 20850. Ongoing seminars to prepare businesses to submit for next year's competition are ongoing.
The winners will be honored and awards presented April 1, 2008 during the Keynote Luncheon at the Rockville Chamber Women in Business 2008 Business Development Conference at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. For tickets see www.women-in-business.org
The Business Plan Competition was started in 2004 by the Rockville Chamber of Commerce, Rockville Economic Development, Inc. and the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development as an integral component of the annual Women in Business Conference. The Business Plan Competition helps fulfill the mission of the Conference to provide "Education, motivation and inspiration to fuel the mind and spirit of women in business."
